We
purchased this doll from a wonderful friend online
and enjoyed keeping her for a while. I am so
proud of the wonderful condition that this gorgeous
Saucy Walker came to us in. As many Saucy Walkers as
we do purchase, this gorgeous doll was
refreshing. We did not change much but what we
did change, we will explain: Her hair is
suppose to be either in a pony tail as Ideal sold
them that way or ringlets. The wig is not
intended for braids. Although I am sure our friend
cleaned her hair, we did as well and curled it with
a touch of steam to help keep the curls in longer. Saran
wigs were set with heat in the factory from what we
have learned. We applied the double satin pink bow
at the top where we gathered it with a doll elastic
band and then attached a doll bobbie pin to the
stiffened bow. Her bangs have been cut by a child
but that is very common to see these days and at
least the child did not cut her bald like I did as a
child with my own Saucy Walker.
Her
eyes appear to still be factory clamped and are
clear and very polished looking. Her lashes
are full and perfect. We always do and did
apply the platforms inside her head to prevent
future crossing or rolling. It was our friend, we
believe, that took care of the creative method that prevents
the eyes from sinking back into the head. (We just
never recommend that you test those features out
like we did successfully already.) The eyes move
very easily from side to side as she is
leaned. Simply lean Saucy as you walk her from
side to side as she was designed so the weights in
the eyes will work with the gravity pull. Her head
will turn with each step.
We use
a Surgical elastic cord tubing on our dolls and the
head and arms have been strung very well. Dr.
Hubby took her completely apart and perfected her
walking mechanism as you can clearly view in our
video below. We did not paint this doll anywhere
except her blushing on both hands and knees.
We wanted her to remain as original as
possible. No face painting at all. She
has a PERFECT face.
What
got our attention was her dress with the see-through
v-neck pinafore. This is the first Saucy Walker
V-Neck pinafore that has come to us and we are
thrilled. The cotton dress has the attached panties
and she was sent to us with a Onesie so we put that
on her as well. The dress and onesie are of course
old but in excellent condition from what we can
see. Our seamstress Lois (toniwear@aol.com)
put the replacement elastic in her sleeves.
Lois is wonderful, in our opinion, when it comes to
replica Saucy Walker dresses with buttons and button
holes included as Ideal made them as well. She has
made many for us and doing so again for our next
rare dolls that will be listed soon. Her web
page is located:

Just
a Note: We have gotten so many requests
from those who purchase their dolls from auctions as
we do at times. We are to the point where we would
like to recommend that if you want a clean Saucy
with all the extras that we provide and completely
display ready...wait for our listings instead.
It is costing many collectors more to not only
purchase them from auctions but they are finding the
dolls a mess and then contacting us and having to
spend more money to restore them properly.
Actually it would be less expensive to order a Saucy
from us or chose one we may have for sale. We
sell them pretty quickly but if we do not have them
available at the time you are looking, let us do the
searching for you as you put in your order because
all sincerely ordered Saucy Walkers (With an
agreed upon and fair Down Payment from you) will
come first on our list with restoration as we are
working on our "Repair in Progress
Dolls".
We
also would like to remind you that we do have a 4
month Lay-A-Way plan in place. Go HERE
to read our
Lay-A-Way Policy. We do not promise that we
can win high priced auctions as we do set our own
budget and figure that cost into our own pricing.
However, if the doll is reasonable and we agree, we
can try to get her for you and save you the shipping
cost to us in the long run as well.
Okay a word from Dr. Hubby: "If
you insist on purchasing a doll at auction, then
just send the seller our address because most of the
time you will end up needing to send her here
anyway!" (He is funny but actually he
is telling the truth. giggle)
Feel free to
contact us about her
and God Bless.
