OF HER RESTORATION.
We have
left her face unpainted nor touched
up. She is nearly perfect. She has a
small nick over her right eyebrow and a
scuff so small near her left temple.
Amazing to be so old and nearly perfect.
The hair is
what is so very exciting to us and on top of
that is this doll was one of the FIRST in
the Saucy Walker line to be marketed and she
is like new and that hair is so rare, I was
shocked to be able to have her here with us.
( Uncut on top of that too!!)
Her teeth are
still there and her eyes have been repaired
and polished by us and they move
almost with the flow of air. Our
preventative platforms have been placed in
her head to prevent the rolling, and the
sinking of her eyes. We do ask that
you do not drop her on her head to test it
out. When she leaves here, we do not
know what child will play with her or if she
is dropped hard so we cannot be
responsible. We put that technique in
for the doll lover who is cautious with the
doll and takes care of her. Even that
doll collector can have an accident as we
did long ago and the eyes did not budge.
Her body
looks brand new. We took an original
1951 doll's body to our paint specialist
to have a blend of satin paint match that
doll identically and what a success we
had. So she is Air Brushed with the
Saucy Blend Satin paint and it looks
gorgeous. Dr. Hubby is excellent at
that and taking the walking mechanism apart
and making them walk like brand new. Can you
tell we are proud of her?
We call her a
"Rod Doll" for this reason:
In 1951 that is the way the Saucy Walkers
from IDEAL were put together...with a rod connecting
her head to her torso. The head
attaches to the metal rod on the inside with
rivets that are super hard to take
off. My guess is that IDEAL got tired
of repairing this type as they had their own
"In House" repair. Thank God
they then started attaching the head with a
band from then on.
You see that
she has a brand new and fresh replica dress
with an attached slip on that resembles the
dress on her replica hang tag. The dress was
made by Lois with "Toniwear".
She does a wonderful job with replica
clothing.
Her shoes are
original to that year Saucy as well and
match the hang tag. You also can see that we
are adding a new pair of leather replica
shoes in the same style as the Early Issue
Dolls wore as well. These shoes were
made by Michele at: "This Old Doll"
and absolutely exquisite. The socks that
this doll has on was also made by Michele.
Make sure you
see the video above to watch her perfect
walking and you can see how precious she
is. Her crier is no longer active as
so many Saucy Walker's are known to lose the
crier after so many years.
If you should have
questions, feel free to contact us: info@saucywalkerscorner.com and God Bless!!
