Lyn's Doll When She Passed June 8,2010 "Lyndi Lu"  We Restored Her July 2010 Lyn's Doll's Original Dress Restored By Us
Lyn Coody's Little 16" Saucy Walker Doll by: Ideal Toy Corp. "Lyndi Lu" Restored One Month after she passed (June 8, 2010)

This little doll was owned by Marcia's sister, Lyn Coody of Oklahoma.  Lyn passed on June 8th, 2010.  Marcia wants this doll display ready to remind her of their childhood days while playing with the dolls. "We decided to name the doll "Lyndi Lu". Lucy for the Peanuts character which reminded us of Lyn when she was younger. She had a big Lucy banner in her bedroom for many years when we were growing up." The Christmas Lyn received this doll, her sister Marcia received her Chatty Cathy Doll as seen in a photo below.  Our condolences go out to Marcia and our prayer is that we can make this doll look brand-new again as in God, nothing is impossible.

I'm attaching the only photo we have of Lyn and the doll (she's on the left and I'm on the right). It was the Christmas she received it. I got my Chatty Cathy that year

Sheryl, She is gorgeous! Thank you so much. I can't wait to hold her and find a place for her to hang out in our house. This has been so healing for me.

Lyn never met a stranger. When she went to the store or anywhere, she talked to strangers. She loved studying the Bible and was involved in Bible studies for many years. She had a ministry of making prayer shawls. She had her Bible study group pray over her yarn before she made it, then would pray for whomever was going to receive it as she crocheted. She was an encourager. If she told you she would be praying for you, you knew she would be praying.

FRIENDS OF LYN'S
And Other Friends Of Lyn's

Even though I didn't know Lyn well "way back when", looking at this made me very teary. Was very interested in the process and the restorer's comments. What an incredible job! It just reminded me of how much God wants to restore us now and that eventually we will be restored to even better than new! Thank you so much for sharing!

Joy

What a wonderful and creative way to remember Lyn through her doll !  If you don't have a plan for the doll's debut, I would love to host a tea party for her. Once again, what a loving, creative way to remember Lyn.

Peace, Hope and Love,

Linda

How awesome! It reminds me so much of God's grace in his restoration of us, taking what is old and broken and making like new.

Note From Anita, Lyn's Best Friend. And More To Come Soon

Hello, I had to write after reading your comments regarding the repair work for Marcia Leys sister's doll, Lyn Coody. (Marcia had forwarded this for her friends to see) As you spoke of Lyn's spirit guiding you about the 'nose dots'... and your own mother's loss also, I cried again for our loss of Lyn. Lyn and I were best friends since we were 5 years old. We walked to kindergarten together and walked as friends ever since. I miss her dearly. So seeing this doll of hers is a real treat! I only wish I remembered her and her name, but sadly do not. Thank you for restoring part of Lyn for all her family and host of friends. You truly have a great talent! God Bless you and the work of your hands!

Sincerely,

Anita J Lee

Getting Ready To Be Shipped & Her New Teddy Bear
FINISHING PHOTOS OF "Lyndi Lu"

BEFORE PHOTOS
Our plan:

Save her wig and restore it to like-new as it was when she was purchased over 50 years ago.  Sand her body to the soft and original un-aged look.  Blushing on her knees and hands and facial cheeks.  Clean her completely, Eye shadow over her little eyes, eye repair.  At this time we are hoping that her eye lashes are still okay on her left eye.  We have not taken her apart yet. Freshen the shine on her mouth. Take her walking mechanism completely apart till she walks like new.  Soaking her outfit at present back to almost new coloring.  Lois will  be providing the outfit and shoes and socks.  We will provide the pink doll stand and replica hang tag and maybe a lil teddy bear for her to play with.  Marcia will be able to display this doll for another 50 years.

RESTORATION
Requested pigtails with ringlets looks like they will be great when the hair is dry and curlers are out.

Although it looks like she has flirty eyes her left eye was so warped but Dr. Hubby reshaped it, I am not satisfied with it yet. I will have to take them back out and work with it to get it more toward the middle at a later date if at all possible. (Very Fragile) Had to sacrifice a tiny bit of the eyelashes showing but after taking them back out and re-working the left eye, I finally got it looking forward instead of down. Because of the eye being so warped still a little bit, it is impossible to make it perfect. Spot is gone on lower part of mouth area.  Guess what it was?  Your sister may have had some sparkles...one of them inplanted itself on the plastic surface.  Was shocked when using the magnifying glass to find it sparkle back at me!  giggle  What a difference huh?  Took most of the day on her eyes and the sewing of her little dress.  I never mend much but I chose to do that instead of using iron on tape.  There are still a few little holes here and there in the pinafore but I sewed all of the larger rips.  That material is fortunate to still be among the remaining as it is. Dress and undies have been cleaned with Oxy-Clean soaking over-night.

OMG!!!  Is this the same doll?  Walks like a dream.  All original except for knees and hand blushing and eyeshadow. Your sister must have put the little dots in her nose but let's leave them there because she has been here watching and guiding me gently. I had a warm moment when I was about to remove them. She likes the depth the dark makes the nostrils look, I have to agree. Her entire face has been sprayed with satin clear to help keep the blushing in place.  OMG! How gorgeous in the real.  Although the one eye was warped, they are alive now.  She will be looking at you through them forever.  That is her baby and she feels alive for you through her. Shivering here...Must be saying what I am suppose to be saying.  My own Mom who passed June 15th /08 now in heaven also agrees.  She is smiling at me for being a good girl too.  Hot dog!  Mom wants me remind me to tell you that photographs always make the shadow and blushing look darker than the real. Her blushing is still the original on her face and the satin clear spray now makes them softer looking.  Can't see them but her little hands are blushed also with the satin clear spray. Oddly enough I am sitting here in tears as I feel their presence of joy.
