Her dress now has new elastic in the
sleeves and has been sewn where the holes were in
the seams. I trimmed the hem of her slip as well
because it was shredding. The dress is soaking
now. It will come out looking nearly
new. Oh she will be adorable. Will work
on her shoes soon.

The strap is repaired
and ready to wear. The dress and socks and
pinafore looks wonderful. We replaced the tiny
elastic in her sleeves and sewed the little holes in
the seams. She will look adorable when we are
finished.
Stay tuned, she
will be making her final appearance all ready to go
soon.
God Bless.

See our after restoration findings below:
| Below are photos
AFTER she was put back together and I was starting
to prepare to put her bow in her hair and dress
her. Sadly we found out just why there as a
crack in her shoulder that we have never seen in
another "Blow Molded" Playpal type
doll. We had it sealed UNTIL I lifted her arm
at the same height as shown in the photo and the
molded stopper pushed the plastic out that we had
glued. As you can see the stopper is way too
large and sticks out past the surface of the
shoulder area and over the years it has weakened
causing the crack. I am not sure if this
particular doll had flanged arms larger than what
she was suppose to have had or not. The arms
only raise to the waist area which makes it hard to put
clothing on but once we are finished, that arm will
raise up much higher and the cracked shoulder area
will be very strong and here is how: Dr.
Hubby will be applying new plastic INSIDE the doll
this time that hardens like concrete. On the outside
she will look like the glued photo above but inside
she will have reinforcement. He will be
cutting down the stopper and form another way to
stop the arm so she can be walked. He
is studying her now and making his surgical
plans to make her stronger and he is
determined not to send her back only to come
apart again later. He told me that
this will take a while to perfect. The other arm we found is the same way
but that shoulder area shows no cracking. Just
keep this in mind when displaying her. Her
left arm will lift higher but the right arm is vulnerable
to future cracking. After I had taken the Before
Photos of her front area, He also discovered
that the back of her shoulder had been glued
prior to us receiving her so that indicates
that this doll had a problem before our time
as the back cracked before the front did
from the pressure. Hum? At first
thought when seeing the crack once I took
her clothing off, I had thought a child had
fallen with her years ago but now we know
what the real problem was all the
while. The design was not good and
there was not a blocker for the stopper on
the flanged arm. The thin plastic molding
was used to stop the arm instead.
Because the cracked area was weakened the
arm pushed out the plastic once again. There
will be a "Dr. Hubby" Designed
stopper when he is finished however. |

11-01-09 We are
firm believers that all things happen for a
reason. As you know we started out thinking
that the glued crack in her shoulder was as simple
as putting it back in place with the glue and all
would be well. NOT!! As you also know,
we found that the design on this hollow plastic doll
was not that good because the flanged arm stopper
put much pressure on the thin plastic which caused
the large cracking over time. Well, we can
correct that but in the process of correcting that
we also found that had this not happened, soon one
of the legs would have fallen off because as you can
see in the second photo above the plastic had pulled
apart from being walked over the years. Dr.
Hubby can fix it all which is no surprise to any of
us, just takes a bit of time on his weekly schedule
to accomplish perfection. We chalk this up to
our added experience and will be asking no extra
fees for these findings on this particular
doll. However this doll really will be
stronger from these findings and you will
have a cute and adorable doll as we are
perfectionist that are determined . God Bless.

She is hanging to dry
as her leg has been repaired and her arm stopper has
been re-designed inside of her, then Dr. Hubby will
seal up the hole after that is dry and sanded, then
she should be going for her finishing photos. Notice
the face masks can be used for more than they were
intended for? HA!

Well...here
she is hanging to dry once again but this
time she is drying from her plastic compound
inside to strengthen the wall of the chest
which was cracked. Dr. Hubby is doing
major repairs to her and now he is going to
try to solder the plastic from another
vintage doll, same color, on the cracked
seams on the outside of the doll, then once
that is dry and satisfactory, we will sand
it down and if he needs to Air Brush that
area only, he will. We want to send
her back strong. Her arm stoppers that
he will be molding from new plastic will
allow the arm this time to come up an inch
higher than she was able to at first...to
walk her. Not to mention the arm THIS time
will not ever protrude and crack the doll
again. I suppose when she was
designed, Ideal never thought the doll would
have lasted. The plastic pieces are
temp to hold her arm in place while this
dries. Just keep hanging in there and you
will see it was worth the wait.

Okay here
we are again with her scar all soldered
together in the left photo and Milliput
painted over the sanded soldering.
Wow, Dr. Hubby melted all of that cracked
area together even the crack down her back
that had been cracked long ago. She is
now hanging again and drying some more so he
can sand the Milliput compound and then Air
Brush Paint the white area. Wow. I am
sure we can match her coloring but if it is
off a tiny bit, it sure looks than it looked
before. The white patch is a smudge,
it will be taken off just in case you were
wondering. Next photo should be of her
shoulder finished. God Bless. |
